How to Interact with Public Officials (PDF last updated 12-1-2023)
Legislative Website Links
This is the main page for the WV State Legislature. It includes links to a myriad of things such as:
-Current members of the legislature (House and Senate)
-The chamber committees (House and Senate)
-District maps (House and Senate)
-State Law including the West Virginia State Code, Acts of the Legislature and Code of 1931
-Bill status which lets you know where is the bill in the process
-Other legislative items
As of the 2025 legislative session, the House switched from public hearing process to a public comment forum. The link above allows you to view all public comments left on bills.
If you wish to leave a comment on a specific bill, you can do so by:
Go to WVlegislature.gov —> click on “Bill Status”, then “Bill Status” again —> search for specific bill number or browse by category —> click on desired bill —> click on “Add a public comment on this bill.”
Please note: The House and Senate have different rules that they operate under, and while some functions of government are under the joint committee, committee/floor processes are governed within each chamber itself. As the public comment is a House Rule provision, it only applies to the House, so when Senate Bills are before the House, the comment period will be available. But not otherwise at this time.
The bulletin board outlines the Session and Records for both the Senate and the House including: Bills to be Introduced, Topical Index, Committee Schedule, Calendar, Journal and Messages.

This link is to West Virginia Legislature Live which is a video and audio streaming initiative of the Legislature, offering live webcasts of official legislative proceedings for both chambers.
