Mid-Atlantic Planning Collaboration (MAPC)

A joint venture of various APA Chapters

It is a joint venture of the Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia APA Chapters as well as several other entities.

MAPC does webinars on various topics of interest to the local planning chapters. Past presentations are available through the Collaboration's YouTube page. Offerings may be available for CM credits - review the comments section for the CM event number and the duration of the credits' validity.

MAPC meets once a month and discusses upcoming webinars, conference and collaboration opportunities, and brainstorm for potential webinars. If you would like to join in these meetings, please reach out to one of the contacts.

WV Brownfields

Assistance Centers at West Virginia University and Marshall University

With over 450,000 estimated brownfields in the U.S., the challenge to transform these properties into more attractive, usable sites is being addressed all over the country. West Virginia alone has over 200 such sites spread all over the state.

The Centers collaborate and coordinate closely to provide training and technical assistance, facilitate site preparation efforts, engage community stakeholders, and identify and pursue project funding.

WV Trail

Building a West Virginia Trails Movement

WV TRAIL seeks to influence the trail ecosystem in our state in order to positively impact funding, development, operations, maintenance and construction of non-motorized trails of all kinds. The primary purpose is to leverage the benefits of trails to positively impact community and economic development.

WV Association of Geospatial Professionals (WVAGP)

WVAGP promotes and supports geospatial professionals in the effective use and sharing of geospatial information and related resources throughout the state of West Virginia.

GIS enables planners to understand the needs of a locality by being able to layer various data sets on top of one another to show trends, concerns, and possible issues.

WV Municipal League (WVML)

Strong Cities. Strong State.

The WVML is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association of cities, towns and villages established to assist local governments and advance the interests of the citizens who reside within.

What legislative bills effect us, may also effect them. For example, several bills that concerned us, also were tracked by them.

County Commissioners' Association of West Virginia (CCAWV)

Empowering Local Governments. Enriching Counties. Fostering Collaboration.

The CCAWV aims promote responsible governance and economic development and work towards a stronger, more prosperous West Virginia for all.

As with the WVML, what legislative bills effect us, may also effect them. They also have legislative conference each year while the legislature is in session.
